On 30 June 2025 the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) announced it will cease accrediting CPD activities.
Participants of the Rural Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Allowance Program on the PPA Portal, this has potential impacts on future CPD activities and participants claiming eligibility under the CPE Program.
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (the department) is currently considering alternative CPD accreditation arrangements for 2026, and the PPA will keep program participants informed as updates become available. In the meantime, APC has advised that accreditation of activities against the APC standards may continue until 31 December 2025. After this date, any CPD activities already accredited by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, Advanced Pharmacy Australia, or the Australasian College of Pharmacy against APC standards may continue to be claimed under the Rural CPE Program, in line with the usual claiming deadlines, until the activity’s accreditation expiry date.
It is important that participants confirm the accreditation status and expiry date of any CPD activity with the education provider prior to attending or claiming.
Please note that events that do not hold in-date accreditation against APC standards cannot be claimed under the CPE Program.
The Program Rules and website content have now been updated to reflect this.
