On Thursday 16 December 2021, it was announced in the Mid-Year Economic Fiscal Outlook for 2021-22 that, as part of the Australian Government’s continued investment in the national COVID-19 health response and to continue to protect the community while vaccination continues, the temporary COVID-19 Home Medicines Service will be extended until 30 June 2022 with refined patient eligibility criteria to take effect from 1 February 2022.

The eligibility criteria will be refined to those who are:

  • Directed to quarantine or isolate under public health orders, because they are either:

             – COVID-positive; or

             – A close contact of a COVID-positive patient; or

             – Receiving COVID treatment; or

  • Immunocompromised
