The Quality and Safety Pharmacy Program (QSPP) will replace the Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP) as the applicable pharmacy accreditation program from 1 October 2026.
From this date, the PPA will only accept QSPP certificates as new evidence of accreditation. Existing QCPP accreditation evidence already held by the PPA may continue to be relied upon during the transition period, subject to its expiry.
From 1 July 2027, all Service Providers participating in 8CPA Programs must hold current QSPP accreditation. This applies to:
- Dose Administration Aids
- Indigenous Dose Administration Aids
- Staged Supply
- MedsCheck
- Diabetes MedsCheck
- Regional Pharmacy Maintenance Allowance
Any existing waivers (also known as exemptions) from accreditation requirements will cease on 30 June 2027.
Service Providers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the transition arrangements and any actions they may need to take.
For further information, including key dates, accreditation requirements and how to provide QSPP accreditation evidence to the PPA, visit the QCPP to QSPP Transition webpage.
